MBB: Cold snap dooms 'Cats

After a loss against Georgetown last weekend, Villanova was looking for a much-needed win against Marquette. Unfortunately, the Wildcats traveled home from Milwaukee, Wis., with another loss in the books, falling 80-67. The Wildcats record now stands at 18-9, 6-7 in the Big East. (0) comments

Reynolds, 'Nova show some forty-tude

Freshman scores 40, leads 'Cats through foul trouble to topple UConn

Scottie Reynolds knocked on the door of surpassing his career high of 27 points pretty loudly in Villanova's last two games, but stopped short by two points each time. The star freshman blew past that total on Wednesday night, and his Wildcats (20-9, 8-7 Big East) needed every one of his 40 points to knock off the Connecticut Huskies (17-12, 6-9) by a final score of 78-74 in what proved to be a difficult road contest. NBA SPECIAL: What happens in Vegas ... reported right here

The Villanovan's David Cassilo recounts his once-in-a-lifetime experience of hanging out at the NBA's All-Star Game with all the biggest stars and celebs

NBA SPECIAL: What happens in Vegas ... reported right here

As I gazed out the window on my flight to the NBA All-Star Game, all I could see was darkness. I figured we were over some clouds or too high up to see the ground, but soon, a bright light in the distance proved me wrong. The plane approached the brightness, and the spot grew until it looked as though it were an island of light surrounded by the darkness of the desert. (1) comment

A look at who's hot, who's not and whose bubbles are bursting on the way to the "Big Dance"

MBB FEATURE: Marching toward Madness

By Kyle Scudilla SPORTS EDITOR Who's No. 1? Not even the Associated Press and the coaches can come to an agreement on that. What will become an even bigger debate is which of the country's best teams are worthy of the top spots in each of the four brackets come March. (0) comments

DIBIASE: Top 10 painfully funny injuries

Kerry Wood's hot tub fall is just the latest in the history of freak sports accidents

DIBIASE: Top 10 painfully funny injuries

Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood once struck out 20 hitters in a single game. The same Kerry Wood recently injured himself in an unfortunate accident in which he slipped and fell on his chest in a hot tub. Wood apparently was able to retire almost seven innings worth of batters with strikes, but he was not capable of entering a 3-foot tall Jacuzzi safely. (0) comments

KAPALKO: Give me college hoops over pro-ball any day

I don't like the NBA. Big deal, you say. A lot of people don't. NBA stars brush off the fundamentals. (Insert joke about traveling and frequent flier miles here.) Defense is nonexistent, and every single player is more selfish than an entire season's worth of "My Super Sweet Sixteen" kids. (0) comments

Before getting into this week's predictions, we have a few quick side notes. First, in last Friday's edition of USA Today, there was a graphic depicting America's most commonly owned pets. "Reptiles" were on the list, represented by a frog silhouette. Mascotology knows better than that: frogs are amphibians, not reptiles. (0) comments

In Dante We Trust Lately, the success of sophomore forward Dante Cunningham has been consistent, regardless of whether or not Villanova comes out on top. A problem with Villanova's offense has been its inability to get Cunningham the ball. The Wildcats have lost only one game in the 13 contests in which he has attempted more than five field goals. MEN'S RANKINGS 1. WBB: Second-half rally falls short vs. Cincy
